The plastic invasion

Plastic is everywhere.

Plastic is everywhere – in packaging, cotton swabs, disposable cups, and even at the bottom of the oceans.

It is estimated that eight million tons of plastic are thrown into the sea each year, and several garbage patches drift in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans.

In response to this crisis, the European Parliament voted on March 26, 2019, to ban single-use plastics in the EU from 2021.

The numbers provided by GREENPEACE speak for themselves: the equivalent of a garbage truck full of plastic waste is dumped into the sea every minute.

Not a day goes by without a marine animal being found dead due to plastic pollution. While turtles are particularly affected, sea lions, dolphins, whales, seals, and seabirds are also impacted.

Without action on our part, ocean pollution could double by 2030. We can all take steps to reduce our plastic consumption on an individual level.
